Our History
CGW began its life in Nelson in the early 1970’s as Worseldine & Wells providing civil and structural consulting engineering services across the top of the South Island.
Our company has been in operation for over 20 years in Nelson. Originally known as Worseldine & Wells, CGW has delivered engineering design and construction projects in the Nelson area, and beyond, for over two decades.
In the late 1990’s the company became Cameron Gibson & Wells (CGW). Securing key consulting engagements with the Nelson City Council amongst other district councils and private clients. Significant projects have included the design and construction of the then Stockton Mine coal crushing plant and key infrastructural projects for both NCC and BDC amongst many others.
After the Canterbury Earthquakes CGW made the decision to open a Christchurch consulting branch. Our team in Christchurch provided expert structural engineering services to aid the rebuild effort for the city. In later years this team was expanded to include civil engineering, geotechnical engineering and project management services.
The current Director team have operated and grown the CGW capability and national footprint over the past seven years, with a current regional presence in Nelson Tasman, Westcoast, Wellington/Kapiti, Otago and Canterbury. Chris Short, as CEO, has driven the expansion of the company across the key technical engineering and project management services, relying on the collective technical skills of Andy Wilton, Rowan Puklowski and Vannessa Anderson in their roles as professional engineers and co-directors.
The director team have a comprehensive understanding of the engineering consulting sector and vast experience in delivering high quality engineering designs and management services to all of CGW’s clients, current and future. They oversee the output across the whole organisation, and take a personal role in ensuring the values of the company underpin every interaction and output from the team – integrity-based relationships that deliver quality and value to the community and clients we serve.
